Don Pollo began the way the best things do — with a family, a recipe, and a long way from home. The Salazar family came from Lima, Peru, where they'd spent years in Peruvian kitchens, carrying with them a love of bold flavor, generous hospitality, and the belief that a good meal brings people together.

In the early 2000s, that belief found a new home in Ozone Park, Queens. With little more than determination and the recipes of their heritage, the family opened the very first Don Pollo. It didn't stay quiet for long — neighbors followed the smoky aroma of rotisserie chicken through the door, and stayed for the vibrant spices of Peru and the feeling of being treated like family.

With hard work and the support of the neighborhood, that single kitchen grew into a name known across New York — never straying from its roots: authentic flavor, generous portions, and real Peruvian hospitality. Today, Don Pollo is a living story of family, tradition, and the American dream, proudly carrying the Salazar name forward, one plate at a time.

Don Pollo nació como nacen las mejores cosas: con una familia, una receta y un largo camino desde casa. La familia Salazar llegó de Lima, Perú, donde pasó años en cocinas peruanas, trayendo consigo el amor por el sabor intenso, la hospitalidad generosa y la certeza de que una buena comida une a las personas.
